Devon’s Cary Arms, “The Inn on the Beach”, announced earlier this week extensive plans for nine new seafront Beach Huts and Riviera Villas, as well as a luxury spa.Lana de Savary was joined at the ground-breaking ceremony by her husband Peter, the hotel team and others to celebrate the occasion.

The £1.5 million expansion of the Inn will consist of six chic boutique Beach Huts and three Riviera Villas all on the water’s edge, with stunning views across Lyme Bay to Portland Bill: each will comprise a terrace, sitting room, wet bar, fireplace, bedroom and stylish bathroom, with fresh New England beach decor.

The Cary Spa will consist of an opening glass-fronted pool and sunbathing deck with fantastic views of the sea and its unspoilt, beautiful coastline. Treatment rooms, experience shower, mood lighting, aromatherapy jets, sauna, steam and mini gym will add to the special experience of staying at the Cary Arms.

Completion is set for May 2016 in time for the summer period. Speaking about the project, Lana de Savary said: “I am delighted to announce these exciting plans for the Cary Arms which is such a special and happy place, full of fun and romance. It will reaffirm the property as one of England’s most special and luxurious seaside Inns. We are so fortunate to be in one of the most beautiful spots on the Devon Riviera Coastline.”

Sitting in the sheltered and sunny spot of Babbacombe Bay on the South Devon coast, the Cary Arms, a de Savary property, has eight sea facing, en-suite bedrooms, each with an effortless seaside feel, most rooms have a spacious balcony or terrace, each with magnificent views of the bay. There are also four luxury cottages, ranging from one bedroom to five bedrooms.

The Inn will remain open as usual while the Beach Huts, Villas and Spa are discretely created.
