World-renowned carpet manufacturer Brintons has created a range of African inspired bespoke carpets for the stunning Ramada Encore Dar es Salaam hotel in Tanzania. The hotel opened in September 2015 and its interiors have been inspired by local culture to reflect the modern vibrancy of the country and its history through bright tones and traditional African shapes.

Three styles of Brintons’ Axminster carpet were installed throughout the hotel in a range of vibrant tones including the corridors between bedrooms, the entrance lobby, bars and restaurants, as well as the conference hall and pre function areas.

Situated within the financial hub of Ghana Avenue, Dar es Salaam’s central business district, the hotel has 116 rooms, five event rooms, a fitness centre, a roof top 360 degree sky bar and three restaurants and cafes.

Pramod Sukumaran, General manager of the hotel, said: “The colour palette of the iconic Ramada red inspired the interiors of the hotel, which is further reflected within the custom made carpets. Shades of grey and orange were also used throughout to reflect the contemporary setting.

“The energy and vibrancy of contemporary Africa is represented through the bold African shapes, which were adapted into a modern design that tied into the Ramada style.”

The 1,300 m2 of carpets were installed throughout the hotel with a double stick method to ensure a long lasting protection and wear. Andrew Howell, Field designer for Brintons, said: “The three different carpets, although contrasting in their shapes and shades, all came together to represent Ramada and Africa as a whole. The bold reds and oranges are complimented by the subtle white and greys to represent different areas and styles of the hotel.”
