What is MEET UP North?
MEET UP North is Hotel Designs‘ premier, northerly networking event for the UK hospitality and design community. Scheduled for 9th July 2025, at BOXPARK Liverpool, this evening event offers a dynamic blend of professional insights and vibrant social interaction, where attendees can look forward to an engaging panel discussion on accessible design for neurodiversity, as well as networking opportunities with some of the UK’s best design studios and hospitality brands.
Following the success of MEET UP North 2024, the event will return in 2025 – for the first time in Liverpool – with an evening agenda to fully celebrate the hospitality and design industry outside of the capital.

18:00: Guests arrive at BOXPARK Liverpool
Arrive at Liverpool’s liveliest music and events venue, in the heart of the city’s Baltic Triangle. Grab a drink, find a friend, have a chinwag or a boogie – the night is young!
19:00: Editor’s welcome
Hotel Designs Editor, Sophie Harper will take to the stage to welcome you all to our amazing venue in preparation for the night’s events. Sophie, who has been an editor in the hospitality design sector for almost a decade now, and a dab-hand at quizzing industry leaders on their work, will also be hosting the evening’s panel.
19:30: Exclusive Panel Talk
Earlier this year, Hotel Designs acted on feedback from the community that not enough was being considered in the hospitality industry for people with different access needs. We quickly discovered designers in the hospitality space were lacking in the information, education, and tools they needed to create fully accessible spaces in hotels and restaurants, so we launched Accessible Design Talks – a series of ongoing discussions and seminars with experts and people with lived experience to help designers create more inclusive hospitality spaces.
At MEET UP North, we’ll be speaking to Tolu Adeko, Founder and Creative Director, Adeko & Co and Melissa Messmer, Global Head of Design, Luxury Brands, InterContinental and Regent Hotels, IHG about their ongoing research and plans to develop better brand standards for people with different needs. This talk will touch on physical disability following our first talk in the series, but will focus largely on designing with neurodiversity in mind.
