At the heart of Pelican House is a belief in harmonising ethnicity and heritage with modernity and practicality to achieve a statement aesthetic. Its collections – found across hotels, hospitality spaces and large-scale residential installations – are typified by joyful vibrancy, accented with timeless splashes of character and colour. Each project is shaped through close collaboration, as the Pelican House team works alongside clients to co-curate bespoke styles that feel distinctive, meaningful and enduring.

This approach is guided by the studio’s belief that design can be a lasting force for positive change. Pelican House was founded by Isabella Valenzia, an art historian based between Mumbai and London, with a clear focus on timeless quality, ethical practice and considered design. She is joined by Creative Director, India Holmes, formerly of de Gournay, and a celebrated artisan in her own right. Together, they lead a global team united by an innate sense of luxury, a vocation for enduring quality and a deep respect for craft.

Operating from a Camden head office with outposts across India, Nepal and Turkey, Pelican House positions itself as a creative mediator between its clients and artisanal weaving communities. The studio works with hundreds of artisans, viewing them as artists faithful to their traditions and sustained by a generational commitment to excellence. Using traditional and ancestral techniques blended with contemporary ideas, Pelican House co-creates products steeped in culture, place and the stories its artisan partners wish to tell.

Ethical partnerships sit at the core of this process. Pelican House takes an uncompromising approach to supplier selection, looking beyond price to establish meaningful, long-term relationships at source. By partnering with organisations such as Label STEP, the studio ensures the highest ethical standards are upheld and that growth is distributed fairly. Ongoing investment in on-the-ground relationships, combined with a trusted global logistics network, enables Pelican House to tell these stories reliably and at scale.

Creating personal experiences is central to the brand’s ethos. From artisans and internal teams to designers, clients and wider communities, every Pelican House project is a deeply intimate journey. By facilitating access to its global network of makers, the studio enables connections that bring deeper meaning to interiors and the lives they touch.

For the hospitality sector, Pelican House offers a dedicated trade and hospitality programme, providing bespoke solutions tailored to the identity, use and budget of each project. With a deep respect for tradition and an eye for innovation, Pelican House continues to work towards a world where its statement designs truly are a force for good.
