Nestled in the lush heart of County Monaghan lies Mullan Village – a place whose name, an muileann, means “the mill.” Originally built as a flax mill in the 1840s, the village thrived for decades before slowly falling quiet as businesses closed and people moved away. When Mullan Lighting began operating in the old mill in 2009, the village was nearly abandoned. The border road was closed during the Troubles, and Mullan had become a dead end. Today, we are proud to continue its legacy of craftsmanship, designing, and producing handcrafted lighting fixtures. This revival has breathed new life into Mullan, drawing back families and craftspeople, and transforming the once-forgotten village into a thriving, creative community.
