Bushtec Creations is a leader in authentic, innovative and award-winning custom lodge design.
Bushtec Creations is a specialised division of the Canvas and Tent group, a tent manufacturer located in South Africa. It’s been over 50 years since the group first began manufacturing outstanding quality tents. Today, we are a world leader in conceptualising, designing, building and maintaining world-class tented camps and lodges, including full turnkey solutions for the luxury glamping market. Whereas our sister company, Bushtec Safari handles the creation of single luxury canvas tents, Bushtec Creations delivers a full turnkey solution.
As most world travellers seek tented destinations and places that offer authentic and personalised experiences. Aligned to this experiential travel market growth, Bushtec Creations is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of unique an innovative tented camp designs on a global scale. For us, no destination is too remote, no idea too bold, no challenge too big.
We boast with our own in-house design department, but we can also work closely with clients or their architects throughout the design and manufacture processes to ensure the common vision of the investor and owner is realised.
Founded in 1968, Canvas and Tent was originally established to design and deliver a range of canvas products, predominantly tents, made to
- endure harsh climates
- be multi-purposed if required
- transport easily, and
- set up, disassemble and redeploy easily.
Over the decades, the company expanded its design and manufacturing capacities and service capabilities through an integrated range of companies and brands that work together effectively, efficiently and seamlessly.
Design and manufacturing of award-winning tents and camps
Award-winning designers and our world-class factory produce market-leading tents and luxury camps worldwide.
The increasing demand from global clients for one company to deliver an installation from ‘start to finish’ is well-served at Canvas and Tent. Because we control each step along the entire value chain, we are able to offer the market peace-of-mind and the assurance that the overall quality and service delivery is of a consistently high standard. The result of this is a project conceptualised, designed, manufactured, deployed and serviced by one company.
To deliver bespoke interior design, our interior designers use their extensive experience in the luxury lodge, resort and camp markets. We extend our design ethos to custom-made curtains, blinds, duvet covers, cushions and upholstery. Based on project budgets, the designers may use the finest quality materials available.
Ladysmith, which is in the Kwa Zulu Natal province in South Africa, houses our state-of-the-art factories, totalling a productive area of 27,500 m2 where more than 300 skilled design, technical and specialist personnel are employed.
Deployment, training and after-sales service is an important phase in a turnkey project. Here we are committed to an extensive hand-over process.
Manufacturing – a commitment to excellence
- We are proud of our heritage and the respect and success we have earned, thanks to our loyal customers over the past 50 years.
- We aim to create products that are fit-for-purpose and manufactured to the highest standards. We never compromise on quality.
- We therefore stand by our products, in terms of materials and workmanship.
Certification –quality begins with our processes and system
Canvas and Tent complies with ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 14000:2015, two major international standards that specify the requirements for a quality management system (QMS). We use these standards to demonstrate our ability to consistently provide products and services that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
ISO 9001 aims to provide a practical and workable Quality Management System for improving and monitoring all areas of our business, and having an ISO certification is important to us because it is a catalyst for growth, profitability, and cost savings. The benefit of reducing waste also allows our workforce to be more efficient.
The primary objective of the ISO 14000 series of standards is to promote effective environmental management systems in companies. The standards seek to provide cost-effective tools that make use of best practices for organising and applying information about environmental management. At Canvas and Tent we take environmental issues and climate change very seriously. In fact our projects always include an environmental assessment and impact study to ensure we would not be aiding and abetting damage to the ecology and environment of the project location.
