Langham Hospitality Group Officially Opens New Langham Place Hotel in Guangzhou, China

Making its debut this month in China’s third largest city is Langham Place, Guangzhou, strategically located in the new central business district on Pazhou Island at the southeastern part of the city. The hotel is a mere two-minute stroll from the China Import and Export Fair Complex, home to the renowned annual Canton Fair, the largest trade fair in the world. The 500-room Langham Place, Guangzhou stakes its place as the eighth hotel for the group in mainland China and the 20th in its global portfolio. To underscore its ideal location for corporate travellers, conference attendees, and holiday makers, Langham Place, Guangzhou is situated next to the Xingangdong metro station, and the shopping and commercial hub of Tian He is just10 minutes away; the hotel is a half-hour drive from Guangzhou South High Speed Railway station, and only 40 minutes from Guangzhou International Airport.

Designed by global award-winning architects Aedas, Langham Place, Guangzhou is an urban architectural icon; the exterior of the 22-storey hotel conjures the vivid imagery of the unfolding of wings, evoking a sense of freedom and space. Exclusively curated contemporary art by local and international artists feature in all the guest rooms and public spaces throughout the hotel.

As befitting its events-centric location, Langham Place, Guangzhou boasts the largest ballroom in the city with a combined meeting and event space of nearly 5,000 square metres. Perfect for conferences, exhibitions and social galas, The Great Hall is a 2,800 square-metre, pillar-free ballroom with an eight metre high ceiling and a dedicated 560 square-metre reception area, ideal for pre-conference cocktails or wedding assemblies. Adding to this impressive space is another 20,000 square metres spanning three floors of the Nanfung International Conference and Exhibition Centre directly below the hotel. Meeting and social planners will also appreciate the hotel’s outdoor promenade that is surrounded by lush greenery and flowers, lined with marbled paths and water features, with the Pearl River and vibrant city view as a backdrop, making it a perfect venue for outdoor events.

A gourmet destination, locals and guests of the hotel can look forward to a wide variety of innovative dining and entertainment options at Langham Place, Guangzhou. The Open Kitchen, an all-day dining restaurant will offer buffet and a la carte specialties; Ming Court, the fine dining Cantonese restaurant is inspired by its two Michelin-starred namesake at Langham Place, Hong Kong; a flamed grilled seafood and steak restaurant at Alfresco will satisfy Western palates; the open-air Sky Bar will be where guests may enjoy the panoramic views of the city and sample handcrafted cocktails and exclusive seasonal drinks; Portal is a clever hybrid of the lounge and business centre which serves refreshments and also offer secretarial services to multi-tasking guests.

Ranging in size starting from 42 square metres, all guest rooms and suites at Langham Place are tastefully furnished in a contemporary style with clean lines and muted hues. Spanning a generous 260 square metres on the top floor of the hotel, The Penthouse showcases an elegantly appointed bedroom, a spacious living room, a fully equipped kitchenette, and dining room that seats six guests comfortably. All guests staying on the executive floors will have access to Club L, a private lounge where they will have attentive round the clock services which include complimentary breakfast, snacks, canapés, afternoon tea and use of the boardroom. A standout unique feature of this lounge is the alfresco terrace which features panoramic views of the city.

In keeping with the group’s award winning spa concepts, the Chuan Spa at Langham Place, Guangzhou will feature six treatment rooms including two dedicated for couples, as well as the signature Contemplation Lounge and Dream Room as additional relaxation spaces. Treatments will incorporate the principles of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in a tranquil setting. Other recreational facilities include a fully-equipped fitness centre with steam and sauna rooms, an indoor swimming pool, and two mini golf courses.

Fun fact: I’m a keen cyclist and will happily bore people with copious amounts of cycling chat. My top cycling experience (so far) would have to be riding in the spectacular mountains of Crete.

Work highlights: Charles joined Forum Events in 2022. With a background in publishing, editorial media and events, Charles brings a wealth of experience to his role as Senior Production Manager. Having being involved with SPACE from the outset, he is excited to see the brand grow and develop.

Fun fact: People tell Sienna she gives off Bridget Jones vibes, and she loves to bake, always making sure there are shortbreads floating around the office

Work highlights: Sienna joined Forum Events & Media Group while studying Communications and Media, starting in the sales team where she managed and helped launch the first the PA Life Leading Venues of London SHOWCASE, where she built relationships with luxury venues across the capital. Drawn to the stories behind these spaces, she naturally transitioned into the editorial team, creating social media and editorial content. Upon graduating in June 2026, she is excited to be joining as Assistant Editor for Hotel Designs and SPACE.

Fun fact: When not working, Jess can usually be found tending to her kitchen garden in the Sussex countryside or foraging for herbs in the nearby woods. A keen grower, she recently studied a RHS Level 2 Diploma in the Principles of Horticulture during her spare time.

Work highlights: Jess joined SPACE magazine in 2022 and has since progressed from Assistant Editor to Editor. During this time, she has worked across many aspects of the publication – from shaping editorial strategy and overseeing operations to contributing to art direction and representing the brand on stage at industry events including Surface Design Show and WOW!house.

Alongside her role at SPACE, Jess has built a creative career spanning the arts, culture, design and travel sectors. Prior to joining the magazine, she spent more than a decade in the commercial art industry, in artist liaison, gallery management, and curating collections for the hospitality sector across hotels and cruise ships. During this time, she also worked on freelance projects as a writer, photographer, and creative content producer.
 
Jess studied photojournalism at London College of Communication and the Danish School of Media and Journalism and holds a first-class BA (Hons) in Culture, Criticism and Curation from Central Saint Martins.

Fun fact: Katy has spent years perfecting all kinds of accents and loves a good impersonation!

Work highlights: Katy has been with Hotel Designs since the beginning, way back in 2015 when Forum Events & Media Group acquired the brand.

During this time, she has fostered many meaningful relationships with clients from across the hospitality spectrum, as well as playing a pivotal role in the launch of The Brit List Awards, Hotel Designs MEET UPs, client-led roundtables and panel talks, brand and website redesigns, HD Wellness Sets, DESIGN POD podcast, Hotel Designs LIVE panel talk series, Accessible Design Talks and more. Katy is always on the lookout for the next opportunity to help grow the Hotel Designs brand even further.
 
Most recently Katy has stepped in to the role of Publisher at SPACE magazine, the printed bi-monthly publication focused on hotel design, architecture, and development.
