On Monday 18th July, the Mayor of Wirral, Councillor Moira McLaughlin officially opened Travelodge’s first hotel in New Brighton – which is also the town’s biggest hotel. The new 66-room property, which is the company’s 477th hotel represents a £2.3million investment in the seaside town and has created 15 new jobs within the Wirral community. The hotel is located on Marine Point, overlooking New Brighton beach.New Brighton’s first Travelodge has been built on the Marine Point regeneration site and has been built three months ahead of the wider project which is due to be open this autumn. Marine Point is a major mixed use development project on the north Wirral coast which has key transport links.
Wallasey, New Brighton Travelodge has opened ahead of schedule in order to support the Staycation break. This year, Travelodge’s annual ‘Holiday Index’ has revealed Staycation break is going to be bigger than ever this year with over a third (35%) of Britons holidaying at home, boosting the UK tourism economy by £7.2billion. One in ten Britons stated they will be holidaying in the North West this summer.
This morning to celebrate the official opening of Travelodge’s latest hotel, The Mayor of Wirral, Moira McLaughlin officially declared the hotel open for business at an opening ceremony, where she also met the hotel team and took a tour of the hotel.
Wallasey, New Brighton’s team of 15 staff members have all been recruited via the Job Centre Plus Scheme – which helps the long term unemployed back into work. As part of their induction training staff members undertook a comprehensive four week training programme at a nearby Travelodge hotel. They also attended a sleep seminar to ensure they are fully equipped to ensure their customers get a good night’s sleep.
