London’s historic Stafford Hotel, located in the heart of St. James, is part of the 5 star Kempinski Group. The hotel is inspired by a bygone era with an air of timelessness; where elegance and tradition create a haven of calm away from London’s busy streets.The project designers, RWP, chose Frank Hudson to design and create bespoke products to complement the traditional luxury interiors. Inspired by Victorian styles with delicate turnings, fine fluting, and cleaver carving details, the pieces were also designed to fulfil all of the modern day commercial requirements of housekeeping and practicality in a busy luxury hotel. For example, the traditional credenza style units were made in several sizes to not only fit each room individually, but to incorporate flat screen televisions, mini bars and storage.
From the initial briefing sketch, designs were produced which were developed into detail drawings and the bespoke pieces created in the workshop. From the point of order everything was ready to be installed in only nine weeks. 23 bespoke items including cabinets, desks, and console tables were used throughout the guest rooms.
