Loomlight has long worked to bridge this gap, sourcing and restoring original vintage industrial lighting in quantities suitable for hospitality and commercial interiors, while responding to more individual project requirements through bespoke design and manufacture. Now, the company’s move into a new Leicestershire workshop, almost three times the size of its previous premises, is making that easier than ever. Vintage industrial lighting, sourced at scale
At the heart of Loomlight remains what the company knows best: original vintage industrial lighting. Over the years, the team has developed an extensive international sourcing network, recovering lighting from factories, shipyards, decommissioned vessels and industrial sites across Europe, Asia and beyond. The result is an ever-changing collection of original fixtures that spans everything from enamel factory pendants and heavy cast bulkheads to explosion-proof tube lights, huge searchlights and unusual pieces of industrial design.
Crucially for designers, these aren’t always unique one-offs. Loomlight frequently acquires lighting in significant batches, sometimes recovering dozens — or even hundreds — of the same fixture from a single industrial site. This makes it possible to retain the authenticity and provenance of genuine vintage lighting while achieving the repetition and visual consistency required across larger hospitality projects.
The collection has been strengthened further by Loomlight’s recent acquisition of Skinflint, bringing a substantial collection of vintage lighting, components and historic stock into the business. The Skinflint lighting collection is now held alongside Loomlight’s existing inventory, adding both breadth and quantity to the pieces available for specification.

Across the wider collection are pieces from some of the most respected names in 20th-century industrial manufacture. Characterised by timeless design, robust materials and purposeful forms, many have survived decades of industrial use — testament to a quality of construction increasingly difficult to replicate.
Restored for another lifetime
Finding the lights is only part of the process. Every reclaimed fixture passes through Loomlight’s Leicestershire workshop, where the team carefully restores it for contemporary use.
The focus is on achieving a refined, high-quality finish rather than preserving a heavily rustic appearance. Fixtures are thoroughly polished and cleaned to an exceptional standard, while original castings, enamel, glass and manufacturer’s marks are retained wherever possible. Electrical components are replaced, and fittings are professionally rewired and tested.
For commercial designers, having sourcing and restoration managed under one roof also provides greater flexibility. Large batches can be restored consistently for a project, while cable lengths, finishes, suspension systems and other details can be adapted to suit the specification.

When the brief calls for something different
Original vintage lighting will always form the foundation of Loomlight, but an expanding workshop and investment in new machinery is also increasing the company’s ability to manufacture in-house.
That capability becomes particularly valuable when a designer has a clear idea that can’t be satisfied by an existing fixture. Loomlight can work with designers on bespoke lighting requirements, developing new pieces or adapting ideas for a particular interior, while drawing on years spent handling and restoring some of the best examples of functional industrial design.
It also creates possibilities for projects that want the character of an original industrial fixture but require quantities, dimensions or configurations that simply aren’t available through reclaimed stock.
