The Falkensteiner Michaeler Tourism Group (FMTG) officially launched its latest glittering city hotel today, with architect Matteo Thun in attendance. The Falkensteiner Hotel Wien Margareten has been designed to four-star superior standards. The opening ceremony also marks the start of a new initiative for Falkensteiner’s premium city hotels. The FMTG has combined modern elements with a laid-back Viennese style in the new Falkensteiner Hotel Wien Margareten. CEO Dr Otmar Michaeler is particularly excited about the latest addition to Falkensteiner Hotel family: “Our new hotel in Vienna, which has been built to four-star superior standards, is our second city hotel project, in which we consciously focus on creating unique and flamboyant design and architecture. We recruited two creative visionaries in internationally acclaimed architects David Chipperfield, who designed the façade, and Matteo Thun, who was responsible for the interior, as we want this hotel to set an example for future city hotel projects. Alongside the design, the service concept has also been revised and streamlined. Combined with the company’s values and success factors, we have created a solid basis for further expansion in the city hotels sector.”

Manager Carl-Peter Echtermeijer is keen for his hotel to make an impression in his Grätzl (neighbourhood). He highlights the accessible central location: “We want to be accessible to the residents of the trendy fifth district. We hope that the hotel’s events will become an established part of the Viennese scene.”

Star architect Matteo Thun conceived the interior design as an exciting architectural fusion of Biedermeier and modernism: “The hotel’s relaxed interior is in keeping with the requirements of the location and reflects the charm of the traditional Margaretengürtel district. The primary idea was to transpose the glamour and classicism of old Vienna to the modern day.”

The 195 rooms and suites take guests on an architectural journey through time from the Biedermeier period to the modern day. The hotel provides a high level of functionality and a perfect environment for business travellers, along with a convenient city-centre location for tourists. The hotel’s City SPA with rooftop terrace is a relaxing oasis of calm. The lobby bar “Nepomuk” and the restaurant “Danhauser” serve typical Falkensteiner cuisine with a Viennese twist. The Falkensteiner Hotel Wien Margareten is in a central location not far from the Vienna State Opera, Ringstraße, and Kärntnerstraße. The Naschmarkt is a short walk away. Also located nearby are Margaretengürtel U4 metro station (approx. 3 min. walk) and Margaretengürtel tram station for lines 6 and 18 (approx. 5 min. walk).
