Dorsett Hospitality announces soft opening of Silka Tsuen Wan

Dorsett Hospitality International has announced the soft opening of Silka Tsuen Wan – a value-led hotel brand under the group’s property portfolio on 16 January 2017.

Strategically located amid the shopping attractions of Tsuen Wan as well as the industrial and commercial hub of Kwai Chung, the hotel is just 35-minute drive away from the Hong Kong International Airport, Asia World-Expo, Hong Kong Disneyland and Ngong Ping 360.

Silka Tsuen Wan boasts a total of 409 guest rooms with various categories – Deluxe Rooms, Deluxe Greenview Rooms, Triple-sharing Rooms, Family Rooms and Silka Suites. All guest rooms are well-equipped with free Wi-Fi Internet access and free usage of smartphones. Complimentary in-town shuttle bus service is available for guests to explore multiple destinations and nearby MTR – Tsuen Wan Shopping area, Kwai Fong MTR Station, Airport Express Tsing Yi Station, Mongkok MTR Station and China Hong Kong City.

Other facilities include a gymnasium at Level 5 of the hotel, a multifunction Hall which seats up to 48 people and the all-day dining room, Coffee Shop with a seating capacity of 150.

With a new face unveiling, the Cosmopolitan Hotel Hong Kong is excited to announce it has been rebranded as Dorsett Wanchai Hong Kong on 29 October.

To celebrate its new name, the hotel has been given a bright new look, complete with a top-to-bottom makeover for all its guestrooms, lobby, and other facilities. Dorsett Shepherds Bush lands International Architecture Award

Just a matter of months after it won a well-deserved Green Tourism Award, Dorsett Shepherds Bush has been awarded the prestigious International Architecture Award 2016.

Awarded by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies, the winning projects for 2016 were selected in Milan during the 15th Venice Architecture Biennale.

Since 2004 The International Architecture Awards have been dedicated to honouring the finest, significant new buildings and planning projects designed and built by the world’s leading architects and urban planners.

The awards are committed to the recognition of excellence in architecture and urbanism from a global point of view, while they also highlight the directions and understanding of current and cutting-edge processes consistent with today’s design thinking.

Dorsett Shepherds Bush was recognised as the winner of the International Architecture Awards 2016 by a panel of distinguished architects, journalists and educators; having been selected from a competitive pool of 130 projects from over 40 nations.

The award was given for the work by the architects, Flanagan Lawrence, for the exterior design and the public areas of the interior.

Hilary Cross, the General Manager of the Dorsett Shepherds Bush Hotel commented “It is an honour to accept the International Architecture 2016 Award on the hotel’s behalf. This accolade is a rewarding acknowledgement of the hotel design team’s dedication to creating a stylish city hotel that blends the best of the East with the West.”

Separate facets of the interior were led by Wendy Chiu, Senior Vice President of Interior Design at the hotel. Wendy and her team have used a simple and elegant aesthetic to capture the unique Dorsett Hotels & Resorts brand essence, where Asia’s heritage of hospitality excellence meets British traditions of classic grandeur with a modern edge. Celebrating these two vibrant cultures, the 317 uniquely decorated rooms at Dorsett Shepherds Bush have been thoughtfully designed to combine traditional Asian warmth with British charm; with each room and suite featuring hints of 1930s Shanghai.

The Asian British fusion is continued thoughout the hotel creating unity between its lively and inviting private and communal areas, resulting in dynamic spaces that provide a more energised business and leisure travel experience. Behind the Grade II-listed façade is a striking black, gold and white lobby, two sumptuous restaurants – Pictures and Shikumen, and a destination bar, Jin, located in the hotel’s memorable atrium. The harmonious union of two remarkable cultures, through architecture and design, has been truly recognised in receiving this fantastic award.

Dorsett City, London celebrates ‘topping out’ with Willmott Dixon

On Tuesday 12 July, Dorsett Hospitality International and Willmott Dixon celebrated a milestone event at the ‘topping out’ of the Dorsett City Hotel.

Guests attended an event to celebrate the team reaching the highest point of the new 13-storey £15 million hotel. Due to be completed this September, the shell and core contract being undertaken by Cobham-based contractor Willmott Dixon is progressing at speed.

The new four star business hotel oversailing Aldgate station was designed by architects Dexter Moren Associates and will host 270 guest rooms, two restaurants, a bar and fitness centre alongside 1,600 sq. ft. of meeting and multi-purpose space.

John Connolly, Head of UK development for Dorsett Hospitality International said: “We are thrilled to have reached this milestone and are very much looking forward to opening this landmark property – a key step for Dorsett Hotels & Resorts’ ongoing expansion into the UK following the successful launch of Dorsett Shepherds Bush in June 2014.”

Speaking about the construction Roger Forsdyke, Managing Director of Willmott Dixon said: “We are delighted to be here today to mark a milestone achievement in the project programme. This project location has had its challenges but the team have met them with great innovation and flair. I am looking forward to staying in the hotel when it opens!”

Once waterproofed, the project will be handed over to the client for specialist contractors to complete the fit-out programme.
