The recently refurbished Bovey Castle has now unveiled its new spa – a ‘place of luxury and sheer indulgence’ – to mark the completion of the first phase of its £2 million transformation project.Treatment rooms and public areas have been transformed to offer a country retreat experience with a distinctly Art Deco feel, featuring glamorous black and silver décor, an open-plan waiting area with stunning views over Dartmoor, refurbished oversized showers and a new Champagne Nail Room.
The six treatment rooms now include a dedicated space for men, a feature that is unique to country house hotels. Gents are offered traditional male grooming, including a luxury wet shave, using products from renowned British brand Truefitt & Hill, as well as full massage and body treatments.
Bovey Castle has also launched a new range of ESPA treatments for both men and women, ranging from facials, massages and holistic treatments to waxing, manicures and pedicures.
The spa refurbishment is part of the first phase of a £2m restoration of the country house estate, which also includes an 18-hole championship golf course, country lodges and an outdoor-pursuits centre.
The Eden Hotel Collection, the AA Small Hotel Group of the Year 2014 / 2015, has now renovated the entire ground floor of the hotel, also transforming the restaurant, bistro and public rooms and adding a boutique shop.
Mark Chambers, Managing Director of the Eden Hotel Collection, says: “We’re absolutely delighted with what we have achieved with our spa at Bovey Castle, which has a lovely synergy with the rest of the refurbishment throughout the hotel.
“Our new partnership with ESPA is a great addition to our offering, as is the male-focused section which is a fast-growing market. Early feedback from guests has been hugely positive.”
The spa, housed in the Orangery, also boasts an indoor Art Deco pool overlooking the sun terrace and the River Bovey, a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. The hotel gym is stocked with a full range of Precor, cardiovascular and strength equipment.
The next stage of the Bovey Castle refurbishment programme involves the renovation of the bedrooms and bathrooms in the main house and of the country lodges. There will also be further investment in the championship golf course.
