Ireland’s only two-star Michelin dining venue, Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud at the 5 star Merrion Hotel in Dublin, has been equipped with a stunning contemporary bespoke axminster carpet from Wilton Carpets Commercial. Some 221 square metres of the 10-row quality woven axminster have been fitted throughout the dining area and stairwell leading to it, providing the venue with a dynamic design that flows through the space in a bold and stunning purple, red, gold and taupe colourway. The result is a carpet that lends a stunning ambience to one of Ireland’s finest culinary venues. A faithful reproduction of designer Stephen Harper’s original creation, the carpet juxtaposes with an eclectic collection of art from some of Ireland’s most celebrated artists.
Specified by For Floors Limited, Wilton Carpets Commercial was chosen to manufacture the carpet based on its track record of quality, service and expertise as Sean McBride, managing director, For Floors Limited, explains:
“Our excellent working relationship with Wilton Carpets’ representative in Ireland made the manufacturer a natural partner for such a high-end installation. Working to an existing design, the team’s attention to colour clarity and accuracy has produced a stunning carpet for one of our most prestigious projects to date and a great team effort ensured a smooth and trouble-free installation from start-to-finish.”
The Merrion Hotel’s Georgian period interior has undergone extensive and extremely intensive restoration using traditional techniques and has been cited as one of the most successful developments in Dublin of recent years.
