This November, the city of Palm Springs will see the official launch of its revamped ‘Downtown’, following a revitalisation project that has taken more than a decade in planning.

The multi-million pound development has already seen a number of restaurants, retailers and hotels open, with the eagerly anticipated opening of the new boutique hotel Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs Hotel still to come in October.

The project, overseen by Grit Development, will enhance the allure of the city, which is often referred to as ‘Hollywood’s playground’, attracting even more visitors to experience its renowned mid-century design, edgy Hollywood vibes, 350-plus days of sunshine and desert adventures.

Perhaps the crowning glory of the development, The Kimpton Rowan Palm Springs, whose design seamlessly mixes the brand’s luxury urban design with the mid-century modern characteristics of the city. Featuring 153 light-filled rooms, jaw-dropping views of the region’s desert oasis and the highest rooftop in the city, the seven-story building will be the first new build hotel in the city for a number of years.

Aside from indulging in the hotel’s design, rooftop pool, 4 Saints Restaurant, and dramatic vistas, guests will find plenty to entertain them within walking distance, including the Palm Springs Art Museum. For those looking for a little more adventure, the surrounding desert has the perfect day out, with the world’s largest rotating aerial tramway, the must-see Indian Canyons, off-road tours and range of hiking routes, to name but a few.

The downtown redevelopment has already celebrated the opening of women’s specialty clothing brand Free People, eclectic boutique Francesca’s, island-inspired Tommy Bahama Restaurant and Bar, along with a number of other brands.
